THE AUTHENTIC NOTION
THE AUTHENTIC NOTION
What's up foodaholic's??
Hoping that you all are enjoying this quarantine eating and preparing some healthy and delicious food at home. The comfort of home made food is beyond words and it's authenticity is derived from all those household spices and old age methods that still feels relieving.
Now that we are talking about authenticity in food. Let's try to understand the term first.
What does authenticity in food actually mean??
The word authentic is used to describe an object that is not false or copied, it is genuine and real. Authentic food is food (or drink) that exactly meets its description and also meets a person’s reasonable assumption of its character.
Imagine a piece of "Boondi Ladoo" in front of you. It looks seemingly mouth watering. It would be reasonable for a person to assume that it is a Boondi ladoo and that it is fresh and would be safe to eat. And if on closer inspection it proved to be a fresh Boondi ladoo then we could agree that it was genuine, or authentic. But what if that piece of ladoo was actually a very well-made plastic display piece? We would say it is a fake; it is inauthentic.
Why is food authenticity important?
Food authenticity is a solution that also speaks to value, proving that the food is what it purports to be. Most importantly, food authenticity enables consumers to get what they pay for and increases their overall level of trust of food.
Indian food is almost incomplete without an authentic Indian dessert.
Do you know which is the most authentic Indian dessert??
Dessert makes us go weak in the knees. It's a warm blanket on a cold winter evening and without a doubt Indian desserts tops our list when we crave a sweet treat.
There is no denying the fact, that desserts give a befitting end to any meal. And Indians? We have a penchant for sweets, no doubt. Not only are desserts a part of our staple fare, but they are also offered in our places of worship. Be it the khada prasad at Gurudwaras or the boondi ladoos served at temples, desserts form an integral part of our sacred offerings. And, all Indian desserts use sugar, milk and khoya as staple ingredients.
The most authentic Indian desserts include Gajar ka halwa, gulab jamun, Sandesh, Modak, Kaju Katli, Payasam and many more. These may originate from the different parts of the nation but the authenticity they carry with themselves is beyond divineness.
